What is virtualization?
Hardware and software components can be abstract. A computer component created as part of virtualization is called a virtual or logical component and can be used in the same way as its physical equivalent.
The central advantage of virtualization is the abstraction layer between the physical resource and the virtual image. It is the basis of various cloud services, which are becoming more and more important in the everyday life of companies.
Forms of virtualization
The term was invented in the 1960s and initially referred to the design of virtual machines, a concept oriented hardware. Today, in the modern IT landscape, there are various forms of virtualization that refer to the abstraction of computing resources such as software, memory, data or network components.
